He turned 95 years old last week. The past months have been very harsh for him. The last we heard of his condition, he was critical but stable under life support machine. Now we hear of some uplifting news that his health is improving. The man was a strong one having gone through torture during the apartheid. He rose above all trials to reach the peak of his career and life.

At 95 years of age he is among the most influential persons in the world. He not only is the first black president of South Africa after the apartheid but also the beacon of hope to many Africans. I find hope in the man but am very sad having to see the skeleton version of his former self. He has done more than he could have guessed that he would for mankind. It is this very same hope and admiration that has led people to hold on to prayers, religion, hope that he will over come this illness and come back to us.

It has been realised over the past few days that  Nelson Mandela is the glue that holds his family together. That and the fact that no one has prepared themselves to lose him. Almost every person I have come across or seen on the news talking about him does not see it as a possibility to lose the man. This is a great sign of the impact that he has left in the people. One thought crosses my mind though, are we being unfair to him? He has done a lot for us but  as he suffers we still expect him to hold on for us. If I had the opportunity to ask him what he wants I would if not for him just so I would be at peace.

In 2009, Mandela's birthday (July 18) was declared Mandela Day to promote global peace and celebrate the South African leader's legacy.Lets emulate the man that has been the epitome of change in South Africa as well as in the whole of Africa.
In admiration I dedicate this page to the man that brought us the hope that we are meant for greater things in life. Its high time we stopped playing second fiddle to anyone. We owe it to the freedom fighters that paid the ultimate price for us to have the comforts we have today. Let peace reign in Africa and the description of poverty, hunger and disease-struck to disappear from the description of the African continent.
May Nelson Mandela find peace and comfort. On behalf of all African people, I offer my deepest gratitude to Tata Mandela. For the sacrifice you made for our sake and future generations. I thank you for enduring the hardships and pain you went through then that has even led to your current suffering. It was not in vain. I will in my capability ensure that we upload the vision you had of the free future with developments and above all unity.
